The headliner on the second day of the Oya festival was Florence + The Machine. This was the third time she played at the festival, and so far her most successful. With a full band with harp, horns, harmony signers and guitar, bass, keys and drums, she used the whole stage for running and jumping around. She also had a sparkling backdrop and used the lights to it’s full. Visually it was spectacular.
Florence Welch has got a solid fan base in Norway. She has greadually build up her popularity since she played one of the smaller stages at Oya in 2009. When she played again three years later, she was headlining on the main stage, and yesterday, another three years later, there was no vacant space in front of the stage. I would estimate the crowd to be 10-12.000.
Some would argue that the concert was gtoo intense all the time, while others may love just this. No one can say that Florence Welch saves on the effects in her concerts. Personally I like her best live, I have never really got her on CD. But I really love to see her live. Both when she stands still, and also when she runs around and jumps up and down.
Here are my pictures from her concert. Enjoy!
