Friday at Øya had sun, but a heavy wind that threatened many of the constructions at the venue. The organizers had torn down the covers on the fences around the venue to avoid the wind. Luckily nothing happened, and the fans had a good time this day, too. Personally I saw seven bands and artists, five of them female. (Photo above: St. Vincent)
The Øyafestivalen has done a good job in booking interesting female artists during the years. This year is no exception, and we get to see both international and Norwegian artists that we rarely see at other Norwegian festivals. Friday I saw St. Vincent, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lykke Li, Norwegian Rohey and Halie plus the two very male bands … And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Ola Kvernberg’s Steamdome. To me St. Vincent and Steamdome were the definite highlights on Friday.
