Drammen is a town outside of Oslo, and they have made a great effort in using culture actively to make the town a better place to live and visit. One of the things they have done is to revive and old industry area to make – among other things – a very good concert hall, plus an adjoining hotel. Another thing is the festival Working Class Hero. This coming weekend it will be arranged for the 13th time. Here are some pictures of the artists from the 2009 and 2012 festival while we are waiting for this year’s festival to begin. One of the most interesting artists in Norway in later years, is Stein Torleif Bjella. He has played for a long time with the band Tolv Volt, and has his solo carreer on the side. Although his solo efforts are definitely the most succesful these days. He was awarded a Norwegian Grammy for his second solo CD, Vonde Visu, and was nominated for his first, Heidersmenn.
The Working Class Hero festival in Drammen has established itself as a quality festival, even if it isn’t the biggest one in Norway. Each year they have some really great artists on the program. This year Susanne Sundfoer is one of them, and she opened the Friday night at the main stage. Here are some pictures from the concert.
