Leeann’s Barndance 2019 – The Very Very Best Ever?

Darling West 17032019-07I said that the 2015 Barn Dance may have been the best post SXSW Barn Dance ever, but after yesterday’s event I may have to moderate this. Yesterday didn’t have the warmest weather, but it was around 70 F, and it was probably the biggest crowd I have ever seen there. On top of that everyone seemed super happy. SXSW 2019 – Saturday with Hayes Carll, Ben Dickey, The Iguanas and more

Ben Dickey 16032019-02The last day of SXSW 2019 I spent seeing the excellent film Nothing Stays The Same in the afternoon, before walking over to South Congress and the Bloodshot Records party behind The Yard Dog. After dinner I went  to The Continental Club to see the bands there.  To me this was the perfect closing to a hectic and successful SXSW. Photo above: Ben Dickey)

SXSW 2016: Saturday at SoCo and The Continental Club with Patricia Vonne, Jon Langford and more

Patricia Vonne © Per Ole HagenSaturday was the last day of this year’s SXSW, and it was a good end to ten days of Interactive and Music for my part. I have attended seminars at both festivals with themes like transparency in the music business, data ethics, the right to be forgotten, Copyright in EU vs. the US, etc., and seen a lot of concerts every night. I also got to see and photograph President Obama and Michelle Obama. The last day of the festival I started at the Yard Dog with Churchwood and Jon Langford, and continued at the Continental Club with six other acts, among them Patricia Vonne, Jon Dee Graham, Tameca Jones and Linda Gail Lewis. Saturday at SXSW 2015 – Ian Moore, Jon Dee Graham And More

Ian Moore © Per Ole HagenSaturday was a rainy day in Austin, and the Auditorium Shores concerts were cancelled due to the weather. For that reason, I changed my plans, deciding to stay inside at the Continental Club the whole night. Some of the bands there were already on my schedule, so it was an easy choice, instead of getting wet while walking between the clubs at 6th Street and Red River. Punk, intelligence, humour equals Jon Langford

The Waco Brothers 2012. © Per Ole HagenMaybe you have seen the Waco Brothers on stage? Or the Mekons? Or the Three Johns? Or maybe Jon Langford with his own band? All these bands have one thing in commen, and that is this British gentleman, living in Chicago. When he doesn’t play music, he makes art or writes books.
