This year’s Tons of Rock was my sixth time, and the first time at a new location. The former five years the festival has been held at Fredriksten festning in Halden, but from this year it will be held at Ekeberg in Oslo. There are always plusses and minuses t moving a festival – for Tons of Rock they lost a spectacular location, but have won a much higher capacity. And everything worked just fine during the three days the festival lasted.
Tons of Rock was held June 19-21., but I have been too busy afterwards to manage to post anything from the festival. This was the first time the festival was held, but it is an easy bet that we will get a new festival next year. Everyone there enjoyed themselves, and the line up was very good with Slayer, Anthrax, Sepulture, TNT, Volbeat, Turbonegro and many others filling three stages for three days.
2013 has been a good year for live music. At least it has been great for me. I have been to fourteen festivals, I have seen somewhere between 150 and 200 concerts this year, and I have enjoyed most of them. For some of them I have seen only part of it, but many I have seen the whole concert. Here are 15 of my best 30 concert experiences this year. Slayer is one of the Big Four in trash metal, and yesterday night they headlined the Sjosiden stage at the last day of the Oya festival in Oslo. The space in front of the stage was packed with fans, they were quite visible during the day, waiting for their heroes. Most of them thought the wait was worth it.
