Trondheim Calling 2017

death-by-unga-bunga-04022017-09Last year was my first vist to the showcase festival Trondheim Calling. I liked it so much that I decided to come back this year. The festival took place this weekend in Trondheim, and it has grown to be a good alternative to, or to compliment the Norwegian big brother of showcase festivals, by:Larm. Three days with seminars, debates, concerts and networking means long and intense days, but the quality of everything made it definitely worth while. Øyafestivalen 2016 – Saturday with Grace Jones, Midnight Choir, Elephant9 with Terje Rypdal, Neurosis and more

Foals © Per Ole HagenSaturday at the Øyafestivalen is a long concert day with music from one o’clock until eleven at night. Luckily the weather was much better than the day before. Except for some  slight rain early in the day, the rest of the day was sunny. Saturday was also a day for some really good music, starting with Midnight Choir and ending with Grace Jones. I missed Friday at the festival, but Saturday compensated well for this.

Stavernfestivalen 2016 – Friday with Veronica Maggio, Charlie Wilson, Aage Aleksandersen, Odd Nordstoga, Zara Larsson and more

By:Larm 2014 – The Last Day

The festival, including the conference has been a success with lots of people visiting the venues and high quality booking and also seminars. The official numbers and evaluation isn’t done yet, but having attended all 17 by:Larms since it started in 1998, I feel safe to say that this must be one of the best. (Picture above: Deathcrush)
