The Norwegian award show for the best music releases from 2013, Spellemannprisen, was broadcast on Norwegian TV, NRK1, yesterday night. More than 80 artists composers, bands and orchestras were nominated in 23 different categories, some of them with more than one nominations. Here are pictures of some of the winners. The first time I heard the Real Ones from Bergen some 15 years ago, I was amazed by their harmonies, and the general togetherness in their playing. This has been one of their trademarks, together with some really good songs. Yesterday night they played at Bergen Fest to a big and enthusiastic audience. One of my very best Austin traditions, is Leeann Atherton’s Barndance on the Sunday after the last SXSW day. It has been my tradition since 1997, and through Leeann, I have met many interesting and very friendly people from South Austin. I have had some great BBQ, too!
