James Morrison is a 27 year old soul man from Rugby in England. His debut was with the album Undiscovered in 2006. From then he has been on a succesful path upwards. Today he played at the closing day of the Norwegian Wood festival in Oslo.
Some singers have a voice that you immediately recognize. James Morrison’s smooth soul voice is one of them. He has also that extra charm and good natured approach to his performance that makes the audience open up to him. Surprisingly to me, he had a lot of young fans at the concert. Soul isn’t exactly the hottest musical genre these days, but kudos to him for making that happen.
His songs at the festival was a mix from his three albums, with his first singel, You Give Me Something as the highlight. He also did a good version of Steve Winwood’s I’m A Man. James Morrison was voted best male actor at the Brit Awards in 2007, and his two first CDs have sold about 5 million copies. After seeing him on stage, I will say he definitely deserves his success.
