Shining recently released their CD, One One One to good critics. Some critics didn’t like their new direction, but the general consensus was that this is another great album from the band. These days the band is on a tour to promote the CD, and Saturday night they played at Byscenen in Trondheim.
Saturday night was a hectic night for me, trying to cover both the Nidaros Blues Festival, and also Shining and Hedvig Mollestad. That means I didn’t get to see the whole concert with Shining. But what I heard in the half hour I saw them, at least made me disagree with the local critic in Adressa.
I admit that I have been sold to Shining since they started out with their black jazz project some years ago. I love their energy, the hard and brutal sound combined with lots of musical intelligence and a virtuoso handling of their instruments. I also love their stage show.
Since I didn’t see enough of the concert to give any kind of review, I will just present the pictures I took from the concert. I did a write up of their concert at by:Larm two months ago, for those who wants to read more about the band.
