Order is a new Norwegian black metal band, but playing old school metal. The band started out in 2013, but the members have a long history from the Norwegian black metal scene. Earlier this year they played the Inferno Festival, and last night they played at Blå, one of the best clubs in Oslo. (Picture above: Messiah from Order)
Black metal has always existed outside of the established culture, both by choice and also from lack of acceptance. So also in Norway, until four years ago, when our Department of Foreign Affairs started educating their aspirants in black metal history, acknowledging the international reputation of Norwegian black metal. Since then the aspirants have got a yearly lecture one black metal, and this year it happened as a road trip with a twist. (Picture above: Order in the cowshed)
2014 has been a great live music year for me, and hopefully for the rest of you, too. Here is the list with the rest of my best concerts this year, from #17 to #1. As such a list will never be exact science, my disclaimer has to be that all the concerts were good, but that the list reflects a mix of the performance, how much I like the music, and, of course, also the visual aspects. This summer I had an experience to remember, presenting a photo exhibition in Warsaw. The exhibition, Norwegian Metal in Concert, was hosted by the Norwegian embassy in Warsaw, and staged at the rock club Club Progresja. As part of the package, the Norwegian black metal band Order played at the exhibition. on Friday the band played in their bass player, Rene Jansen’s funeral. R.I.P Rene.
Two years ago I held an exhibition at the Galleri MAP in Oslo called Norwegian Metal in Concert. Last year the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs bought the rights to offer the exhibition to Norwegian embassies, and yesterday the embassy in Warsaw, Poland hosted the first exhibition together with a concert with the Norwegian black metal band Order.
