The second day of Tons of Rock 2015 had a more diverse mix of bands than Thursday. Mayhem are pioneers of Norwegian black metal, while Venom are credited for giving the black metal name to the genre. Twisted Sister’s aggressive music coupled with singer Dee Snider’s look, and the Norwegian rock band DumDum Boys who is still one of our best live act. And then, Gojira, with their deadly precise and sometimes rhythmically complicated metal, it was a day for most tastes. (Picture above: Twisted Sister) Continue reading

My best concerts in 2014 Part 2
2014 has been a great live music year for me, and hopefully for the rest of you, too. Here is the list with the rest of my best concerts this year, from #17 to #1. As such a list will never be exact science, my disclaimer has to be that all the concerts were good, but that the list reflects a mix of the performance, how much I like the music, and, of course, also the visual aspects. Some Of The Best Metal Albums from 2012
It is the time for Christmas and the yearly lists of the best albums of the year. Different magazines and radio shows have their own lists, and the forums have eager discussions about these lists. One of the music styles that causes the most discussions, is metal rock. Here are a few of the candidates for this year’s best metal rock album, international and Norwegian that I have photographed this last year and before. Gojira – The Best In Metal From France
If you like progressive metal and bands like Tool, Gojira is the perfect alternative. They are on an European tour this month, and played at the Parkteatret in Oslo yesterday night. In January they are going to Canada and US, and my advice is to check out their tour schedule and be there when they play near your place.
Did you miss Mastodon and Gojira?
Mastodon and Gojira are playing support for Metallica on their Black Album tour. Wednesday this week they played for 40.000 people in Oslo, Norway. Here are some pictures of the two great bands from when they played the Norwegian Wood festival in Oslo last summer.
