Steinkjerfestivalen was arranged this weekend for the seventh time with Behemoth, Kaizers Orchestra, Susanne Sundfør and D.D.E. as headliners. Three stages, great bands, music non stop for 8 hours each day, a smooth organization, and a great atmosphere made his year’s festival just as pleasurable as last year’s.

A dark session with Behemoth
Polish blackened death metal band Behemoth was the headliner of the first day of the Steinkjer Festival in Norway. They followed the popular Norwegian band D.D.E. on stage, and you should think that was a bad choice.- But Behemoth showed why they are considered one of the world’s leading metal bands, and played a dark and extreme set.

Pretty Young Pettys at Herr Nilsen
Last year during the Norwegian Wood was the debut of the Tom Petty tribute band Pretty Young Pettys. I saw them then, and liked what I heard, even if it wasn’t the real thing. But the musicians were really good, and they had a contagious enthusiasm that showed during their performance. This year they also played during the festival, at the Oslo club Herr Nilsen after Bryan Ferry’s concert at the festival.
Norwegian Wood 2012 summarized
The Norwegian Wood festival was arranged in Oslo this Thursday to Sunday. The biggest headliners were Sting, Tom Petty, Kaizers Orchestra and Bryan Ferry. Here is a summary of the festival with pictures of the artists who played there.
Lars Winnerbäck, Sweden’s new rock poet
Sweden have a great tradition of artists who are both poets and composers, plus great live artists. Ulf Lundell, Stefan Sundström, the late Cornelis Vreswijk, and these days Lars Winnerbäck. This Sunday he played at the Norwegian Wood festival in Oslo to a sold out venue.
Soulful James Morrison
James Morrison is a 27 year old soul man from Rugby in England. His debut was with the album Undiscovered in 2006. From then he has been on a succesful path upwards. Today he played at the closing day of the Norwegian Wood festival in Oslo.
Laleh charmed Norwegian Wood
Laleh is a Swedish Iranian artist who started her carreer in the Swedish movie Jalla! Jalla! when she was 18. Tonight she played at the Norwegian Wood festival and won the crowd over with her sweet, easy flowing music with lyrics in Swedish and English.
Tom Petty Won’t Back Down
The Norwegian Wood festival in Oslo has a pretty impressive line-up this year – as usual. The first night Bryan Ferry was the headliner with a 12 man band, and yesterday night Lenny Kravitz played before the greates of them all, Tom Pretty & The Heartbreakers. Since Kravitz presented an unacceptable photo contract, I took no pictures of him. But Tom Petty had no contract, and did a great show for a sold out festival.
Norwegian Wood is coming up
Tomorrow the festival Norwegian Wood in Oslo starts, going on for four days. The headliners are Bryan Ferry, Tom Pety, Kaizers Orchestra and Sting.
